An animated poetry music video using 2D and 3D animation
The Brief
We were approached by poet Hussain Manawer to create a music video for his song “All I Need”. The first time we met Hussain we were instantly attracted to his passion and dedication to helping people with Mental Health. There was no surprise that when we heard the track for the time we fell in love with it. Hussain really respected the way we worked and the whole process felt like a collaboration of artists.
Our Response
One of the fun parts of this project was to come up with some character designs for Hussai’s animated poetry. What you see on the right is the final design we decided to go for.
We wanted to create a style that was bold and attention-grabbing. Something that did Hussain’s character justice as well as the song. We got to work storyboarding and seeing how we could use some of the key shots described by Hussain’s lyrics and how we could use clever transitions to the animation to keep it fluid.
We brought the project together by using a combination of hand-drawn animation, after effect and cinema 4D. Ohh, and of course magic, mainly magic actually.
You always need a bit of magic when creating animated poetry.
